Cut Out The Crap

I think my diet needs a very strong looking at.

I don’t mean diet as in “way to lose weight, I mean diet in general, like what I consume.
I am building some muscle at the gym for sure, however it is very hard, if not impossible to build muscle and lose weight at the same time. Building muscle needs a caloric surplus, losing weight need a caloric deficit.

This is why many bodybuilders will bulk up and then cut weight in cycles. I think I have been focusing too much on building muscle. I will now try and cut more weight.

That means I will have to clean up my diet. It also means that free for all weekends have to come to an end. No junk food, no sugary treats and no mouth watering BBQ EVERY weekend.
I think if I cut out all the excess crap I consume, that enough will allow me to see some pretty impressive weight drops. I know that my work out at the gym burns a ton of calories, so just this change in my diet should show some great improvement.

Ideally I would like to eat very clean. Nothing processed organic meat when available and only small amounts of essential fats. I have even given thought to eliminating a lot of meat from my diet. Now if I was focused on building muscles this might not be the best choice to make. I am interested in cutting weight though, so it shouldn’t be a huge problem. I’ll just have to make sure I find some alternative protein sources, staying away from soy protein. I heard it causes “mobs”. Also known as Man Boobs…I have enough in that department so anything I can do to avoid it, I will.

Cutting out meat will help eliminate a lot of trans fats from my diet as well as possible hormones and steroids. It will also make me feel a little better about myself. I am a sucker for animals and although I try to condition myself to think cows and pigs are faceless, inanimate blobs, I can’t do it. I generally feel bad about how a lot of animals are treated in our farms and slaughter houses.
It would be tough to cut out meat all at one. I think cutting down on red meat would be a great start. I prefer chicken anyways. I also like seafood, and think even if I did cut down on meat, I would still eat fish.

First thing is first though; I have to cut out the crap. No more chips, fast food or stuff like that. Hopefully this will not be too much of a problem, I am sure I can Google a ton of alternative healthy snacks. Anything except celery that is, dear God anything but celery.
